TV licence law change plan in motion

A proposal to end the criminal offence of failing to buy a TV licence is being considered for inclusion in a bill before Parliament.

It comes after Tory MP Andrew Bridgen's suggestion to make non-payment a civil matter gained the support of 143 MPs.

Ministers had said they wanted to defer a decision until BBC charter renewal talks in 2016 - but they could seek to gain the power to change the law now.

These days you can pay TV licence monthly which make it much easier to pay,
But I think it could lead to more not paying for it.

I pay monthly by direct debit

I pay by direct debit but strongly oppose it.

The fact that we pay for Sky, Virgin etc means we pay twice for BBC. It is an absolute rip off and that should be the criminal part not the non-payment!

A real bug bear of mine this subject!
