3RD DECEMBER

No sew Snowman sock decoration ...

What you need

1 white sock
1 sock in color for the hat
rice
rubber bands (or thread)
colourful buttons
ribbons
glue gun
markers or paint
orange pom poms

step1-1

Start by filling your white sock with rice. You will need a hefty amount (we were quite surprised to see how much rice can go into one sock). Once you are happy with the amount (and size) of your sock snowman tie the top with the ribber band. Take another rubber band and place in the middle – more to the upper side – of the rice filled sock to form the head shape.

Now glue the buttons to the bottom side by using a glue gun (glue dots do a fairly good job too). Draw the mouth and eyes with a black marker or with black paint. We also added pink cheeks (Crayola washable paints were great for the job). We made the nose out of two orange pom poms – turned out amazing.

step1-2

Add a ribbon for the scarf – we fount that glue dots and glue gun work best for ribbons, while other glues kind of fail miserably. You can cut off excess white sock (or you can tuck it in the hat we will be making next).

Cut the colored sock (we cut the foot part, without heel). Roll it a bit and place it on the head of your snowman. You can leave it as it is or you can secure it with some glue.

This sock snowman is ready to rock.

Some Christmas facts ...

The world’s largest Christmas stocking measured 106 feet and 9 inches (32.56 m) long and 49 feet and 1 inch (14.97 m) wide. It weighed as much as five reindeer and held almost 1,000 presents. It was made by the Children’s Society in London on December 14, 2007.

In Germany, Heiligabend, or Christmas Eve, is said to be a magical time when the pure in heart can hear animals talking.

During the Christmas season, nearly 28 sets of LEGO are sold every second.

For when you can get some quiet time to yourself at Xmas, even if it's just a few minutes. Get yourself a hot drink, a biscuit or two and watch the snow gently falling and the calming quiet of the forest ..

Christmas One-liners

Two snowmen in a field, one turned to the other and said "I don't know about you but I can smell carrots."!

Did you know that Santa's not allowed to go down chimneys this year? It was declared unsafe by the Elf and Safety Commission.

There were two biscuits, on a plate, all ready for Santa to eat. One biscuit decided to go and hide in the biscuit tin as it didn't want to get eaten. As it was going to the kitchen, Santa came in and stood on it and all the other biscuit could say was 'Crumbs'!.
