Royal baby: Heavily-pregnant Kate makes surprise appearance

SHE may be 40 weeks pregnant, but that didn't stop the Duchess of Cambridge making a surprise visit to a petting zoo with Prince George last week.

With no sign of the new Prince or Princess, heavily-pregnant Kate treated her son to a day out at Bucklebury Farm Park in Berkshire before enjoying a shopping trip in London.

Kate's visit, the weekend before last, came just days before her reported due date of Saturday, April 25.

Although George is a regular visitor to the farm with his grandmother Carole Middleton, The Telegraph reported that families were shocked to see the Duchess out and about so close to her due date, which came and went last week.

But the activities didn't stop there because Kate, 33, was then spotted shopping at a Zara Home store, a short walk away from Kensington Palace.

A shop assistant said: "She looked so calm. You couldn't really tell that she was pregnant because she looked so great.

"I mean, she was wearing heels. She was so nice and polite, I was really impressed."



And Kate's choice of buys may set tongues wagging, because padded blue and white gingham hangers were amongst her shopping bag of picnic cutlery, towels and a doormat.

But the shopping assistant brushed off any suggestions that it might have been a hint at the new royal baby's sex.

She told People magazine: "Everything she seemed to look at was blue, but not for babies.

"She must just like the colour."

As the 'Great Kate Wait' continues ahead of the imminent arrival of the second royal baby, reports suggest Prince William's wife could be induced to speed up the birth.

Meanwhile odds on the Duchess giving birth tomorrow, her fourth wedding anniversary with William, have been slashed to 3/1.
