I now have to work till I am 67, I need the home responsibilities protection this gives me.
we are not on benefits as we are classed as a single couple providing voluntary accommodation for our daughter.

I have learnt that there is no point in worrying about what may not happen.
We will still be here to support one another no matter what.
My thoughts are that the parties will have to make it clear what they intend to do with carers allowance.
There are a great many carers in the country, and they would not want to lose their votes.

Trouble is Wendy, you cannot believe anything they say pre-election, they promise everything to get the votes & then renage, but as you say at least here we provide support for each other

I did have a note on my door saying cold callers, but after that if any of them knock on the door I shall ask them "What about Carers Allowance? .. Bet they won't be expecting that one ...

My worry is that now some family carers are not able to retire till they are 67 or over, as they age they may need to give up work in order to carry on caring.
Carers allowance protects carers state pension contributions with its home responsibilities protection.
If carers allowance is stopped and if the home responsibilities pension protection is withdrawn, are there any plans to address this?
This could affect many younger carers too .

I wouldn't be worrying to much just yet about CA, you'd be better questioning them when they come door knocking.

I had to give up work to be a fulltime family carer when I was 46.

That's my point.
I presume you were able to claim CA,
this would have protected your retirement pension by automatically granting your stamps with the home responsibilities protection.

Yes I did claim CA, I reached pension age while still caring and then CA stopped.
