Just had a man phone me, who wanted a laptop. He does not receive carers allowance or any other benefit, because he works.
Our scheme is to provide equipment to a family 24 hour carer who could not afford to buy one.
He was referred by a carers agency in Norfolk.

That really angers me that someone would even consider applying when they WORK and don't even get CA, especially having delivered a computer to a genuine needy carer today.

This is a difficult situation to comment on without knowing the circumstances of the person.
Some family carers who are able to work get less income than some who are claiming benefits.
Grants, discounts etc , priority is given to benefit claimants .
We get no benefits as we are classed as a single couple.
I will therefore return my laptop to Chill as I am working part time and therefore not entitled to it.

I don't understand you Honey, you qualify and you are a big part of chill, your remarks have spoilt for me what has been a good week delivering a desk top PC and a laptop to 2 family carers in rural Norfolk which I posted about yesterday as one carer wanted me to thank you all, I've only had 2 replies, hey ho never mind, I feel deflated now and now wonder why we bother to help.

I am sorry my post caused any upset and distress, it was not meant to do so.
I genuinely thought that because I work and we are not entitled to benefits (other than my CA)
that I wasn't eligible , and that my laptop should go to someone more deserving than me.
I apologise once again for any misunderstanding caused.
Thank you for all your kindness and help. (and laptop)
