Royal baby: Severe sickness 'traumatic' - hyperemesis gravidarum

Postby chenrezig » 14 Sep 2014, 08:45

The Duchess of Cambridge has announced she is expecting her second baby. As with her first pregnancy, she is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum - a severe form of sickness.

It affects about one in every 200 pregnancies and results in severe nausea and vomiting. One of the main dangers is dehydration. Symptoms - persistent vomiting,  dehydration, tiredness, dizziness.

My dear Mum had this when she was expecting me ... The doctors offered her drugs to help stop it .. I thank her n heaven she refused them and stuck it out .. The drug was Thalidomide! The same thing happened to a work colleague of mine who was the same age, his Mum turned it down too .. I sometimes wonder how I would have been if dear Mum had accepted it ..

Her partial remedy was to suck Foxes and Polo Mints, to this day I hate them and wonder if that was where I got my dislike for them from, before I was born
