"News Alert – Director of former Birmingham based Textile Company sentenced at Norwich Crown Court for misleading people with ‘charity’ clothing collection bags – 02 June 2014
A director of a former Birmingham based Textile Company was fined £1,500 at Norwich Magistrates Court on Wednesday 28 May after pleading guilty to three offences of misleading people with ‘charity’ clothing collection bags.
The company, which had no connection to any legitimate air ambulance organisations, set up a website titled ‘Airambulanceservice’ and had a large number of clothing collection bags printed with the words ‘Air Ambulance’, ‘Urgent’ and ‘Clothing Collection’ in large letters and a reference in very small print to the name of the company.
Norfolk Trading Standards received complaints about the misleading bags in May 2011 and attended properties in the Dereham area in June 2011 where further bags had been distributed.
Alongside the fine the director was ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge."
Sounds like the same one ... only £1500 fine, I wonder how much more they made from the scam? This is why I take stuff direct to shops ... I never put anything in any bags I get ..
