Have you had bad neighbours?

What a week we had last week.

Our neighbours who rent the property attached top us really out did themselves last week. They have been here for about 10 months I think. They have always been lovely. A bit heavy footed on the stairs but nothing to write home a bout.

Then a couple of days before the bank holiday weekend they told me they were having some family round for a party and it might be a bit noisy. being bank holiday I was quite okay with that and thankful for  the consideration. They said it was her mums 2 sisters and their husbands as they hadn't seen them in 9 months.

What turned up via mini bus whilst I was out on the Friday was 13 people! We live in a 2 bedroom terraced house. With the 4 of us we are cramped! So you can imagine the noise. Anyway it was just for the weekend so hey ho!

By last Wednesday we were at screaming point! No sleep and Liv has her exams starting today. She was so tired she was in tears by then. So I went round to talk to them which is really awkward. The mum came to the door and I had to step back from the smell. They hadn't had a window open in all the time they lived there so imagine the smell of 13 people, cooking, damp washing and the heat as they like it hot! It was horrific.

I explained the problem and she said that they would keep it down. They didn't. I spoke to the husband on Thursday and he said that we would get some sleep now as they were all going to Scotland for a few days. But with so many adult I couldn't expect it to be quiet!

He then said that they were all coming back after a few days and they were staying for another 3 days which would mean poor Liv wouldn't have any sleep before her exams. I had no choice but to call the letting agency. They were lovely and spoke to him and said that it was in violation of his lease. I was then told that they would be here Sunday and leaving Monday (today) Well Saturday night they all banged in again! Last night was the same! I really hope that they stick to their word and do go today. I am so tired!

The agents said they are doing a house inspection tomorrow and will go from there! SO fingers crossed for a quiet night tonight!!!

I was going to suggest you write it all down in a book, but you have written it down in chill.
But please keep records of any further problems.
There is always enviromental health you can contact, re the noise, if it happens again and with your notes as well.

I also wrote an extremely long email detailing it to the letting agency just to formalise my complaint too.

Suitcases went down the path anyway. I had to shut my windows again as the smell seeps in!

Seeing their family trudge down the path with those suit cases was a joyful sight!!

I wouldn't begrudge anyone a lovely time with their family but they did take the biscuit a tad on this one!!

Part of me feels ever so guilty for complaining officially to the letting agent, but you know what it's like when you get to the end of your tether!

Livs exam went well today so that is something. She has them until Thursday bless her.
