I was getting on with Twitter and really enjoying getting the hang of it.

However .... I decided to download an app via a link on Twitter "SumApp" it seems to have mucked up the page when I click on the "Me" link.

I uninstalled it, still had the problem, checked Twitter fixes about apps and changed my password which part-fixed it

The first pic is the one I have been getting when I log in, and before I installed and uninstalled SumApp, and the same screen I got when I clicked on the "Me" link.

When I click on the "Me" link now I get a display like the second - with none of the tweets appearing,
I have also run two full scans on my PC, and cleared all the cookies etc

PS, if I look at someone else's Twitter I seem to lose the background on that as well -I haven't knowingly changed any settings on viewing webpages, images etc etc

When I first look at their twitter it has the background, but if I click to reply to a tweet I get this screen

I don't know anything about the app you downloaded but make sure it's completely removed from programme files, what I would suggest you try is reset your browser.
If you use firefox click firefox > help > trouble shooting information > reset firefox.

I can't find anything about this app and twitter, except something to do with credit cards.
do you have a link about the app

I would not have reccommended that, if you want stuff in one place you could try Hootesuite.
I use that and have done for many years.

I have moved this from the public part of Chill, we dont want to get sued by anyone.

have you tried accessing twitter with IE,
it may be firefox acting strange with Windows 8
