Ann, It will be good for you to be in the system, you never know when you will need help in some way or other, your needs matter.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I thought we have talked about carers getting an assessment for many years on Chill.
I have posted this in case there is anyone else who does not understand or who has not had an assessment.
I know in Norfolk and some other counties it is near impossible to get an assessment but carers are entitled to one by law.
I am delighted that Ann is to get an assessment, and my advice is to write down before you have the assessment what you would like to make your caring role better.
Be aware you may even have the assessment over the phone.

Having had a Carers Assessment I would suggest making a 24 hour diary for a couple of days ? It helped me remember what I wanted to ask for

If you have had one and benefitted from it, then dont forget you are entitled by law to have one every year.
I would only contact them if you got something to help you.
