aromatherapy massages.....has anyone here had one

Postby Honey » 08 Jan 2014, 00:57

I got a Christmas pressy voucher for one at a posh place in another town.
it would be a full day out to go with lots of planning beforehand to make sure my mum and daughter were ok.
I have just researched the place on the computer and they seem very professional. .
but
the information before treatment says that if one has high blood pressure one needs a gp to give written agreement  to this.
i presume this for their protection but i am not taking any medication although i do have high blood pressure due to stress.
the person who gave me this voucher gave it with so much  love and thoughtfulness and i don't want to disappoint her.
any advice would be appreciated.

If you have high blood pressure due to stress then aromatherapy should bring it down rather than increase it, massage is recommended for stress. If you are still worried, talk to your GP about it. I find aromatherapy a great stress reliever. The aromatherapist will use oils specifically for stress relief. Go for it Honey , it will do you a power of good

I have had these massages for many years, and actually arranged a meeting for Chill with Liz and Barry today.
We will wait to hear what they have to say about the lady.
Go for it Honey.
The only problem is with ME. you must be careful and tell the therapist.
Make sure they are probably trained.
You will love it.

What a lovely gift and a kind friend.

I haven't had one only the reflexology which was amazing.

I hope you enjoy and float home on a cloud of relaxation.

My brother used to do this several years ago.

You also have to be careful as some oils can react with medication, you also have to take into account any health problems - and as Wendy has already said, make sure they have had all their training. My brother had to train for two years just to do massage, and you also have to do it a certain period of time each year after you have qualified to keep "current".

I was going to say the same as Liz with regards the oils causing a reaction. Maybe you could speak to your gp over the phone or possibly your chemist. I hope you manage to have the massage-I am sure their are some 'safe' oils that can be used xx

Anyone who has done their training should be aware of what are called "contra-indications" - reactions

tha22222
everyone for your kindness
I am going hopefully on Saturday.
I spoke to the salon today and they will use unperfumed oil.
I forgot to ask what to wear though , I realise I will have to get undressed but I would like to preserve my modesty so can I wear a pair of running shorts.
what do you wear.

You will be completely covered with towels Honey apart from the bit that is being massaged, ordinary knickers will be fine, she will leave you to get undressed in private & cover yourself with the towels, so there is no need to worry. If you wear shorts, she will not be able to do your lower back or your thighs

thank you everyone for your advice.
I went for the massage and although apprehensive I had nothing to worry about as you all said.
it was very professional , fully trained therapist and all considerations adhered to.
she used simple grape oil and I have had no adverse effects.
it was very relaxing,
so much so I just wanted to go to bed and sleep for a week afterwards sp0
then my daughter took me out afterwards to a lovely greek restauraunt for a nice meal.
It was a lovely day and I nearly fell asleep on the train home.
have been very tired all day today.
i dont think i will have anther massage again though, nice as it was its not my cup of tea.
