I am delighted to tell you that vc5 has added our newspaper to her blog.
http://mazcarer.blogspot.co.uk/

She didn't have to do this, and it is really kind of her to do so.
It is all free of course.

I really liked the article on "Design for Dementia: A year in the life of a carer for a loved one living with dementia". So true, we never realise what we are letting ourselves in for when we start as a Carer ... all the physical, emotional and mental strain and effort we go through ...

I did too Liz,  the power of music is amazing. Our local carers contact has started a singing group of people with dementia and  their carers, it is amazing how those who have lost their speech can sing along . I remember when I was a ward sister, we had a stroke patient on the ward who  could not string two words together , but he used to sing the most beautiful operatic arias word perfect.

Annie there is a book about the power of music you might like to read? It is by Oliver Sachs (Awakenings) and it is called "Musicophilia". It covers howe music affects those who have various health problems... people with Parkinson's who become animated, stroke patients whoi can't talk but when they hear a familiar tune, start singing, can calm people with Alzheimers' or other mental illness...
