I changed the photo and got rid of some of the wording.
I think the less the better.
I have advertised it on twitter.

I wrote to Freedom of Information Act and have highlighted my questions

Freedom of Information Act 2000

I refer to your request for information dated 09 August 2010.

In accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I have now processed your request.

As requested, I respond to your questions below:

How many of the Governments free laptops for children have been taken?
As at 06 August, 3735 computers had been issued to families in Norfolk, though the Council were still trying to encourage more families to request application forms.  Original data showed that around 5000 families in Norfolk could be entitled.

How many are left over?
As this scheme is a national one there wasn't a certain amount allocated to each county, instead allocation was on a first come first served basis across the whole country.  As at 09 August, only around 10,000 grants were still available out of an original 270,000.

The scheme was originally due to run until March 2011 but uptake has been so successful that all the grants are likely to be allocated in the next few weeks.

Why can't the council suggest that any that have not been issued could be given to 24 hour carers.
The role of Norfolk County Council was to promote this scheme and encourage families and carers to request applications and offer some support and advice when necessary, either direct to families/carers or to schools, social workers or other relevant members of staff.

You have the right of appeal against this response.  If you wish to appeal or if you are unhappy with the way in which this matter has been handled in general, you have the right to make use of the Authority's complaints procedure by setting out the grounds of your complaint in writing in the first instance to the:

Corporate Freedom of Information Officer, Room 1.20, The Archive Centre, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DQ.

If, after pursuing the internal complaints procedure, you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision whether your request for information has been dealt with in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Contact details for the Information Commissioner are as follows:

Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, Telephone 01625 545 700, www.ico.gov.uk

Should you have any queries regarding the information provided, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Debbie Fair

Race on line have added my radio interview from Radio Norfolk.
I think there is an older interview on as well, but they have now added the recent interview.
