Always keep your eyes and ears open ...

Postby chenrezig » 24 Jan 2015, 07:34

Tuesday morning last week, I was walking along the riverside in Norwich when I got to part of it where the ships used to turn round near the Railway Station.. I saw a couple of moorhens calling out to each other ... and then I spotted a pair of cormorants bobbing their heads up and down to each other - Spring definitely in the air I thought, even if it is freezing !

Wednesday, I was bit further along the riverside, passing where one of the old wharfs was and there was one heck of a "row" going on, took me a while to locate the source .. FOUR floors up and the corregated roof of one of the few old buildings left that used to be used as a warehouse was one very, very, very noisy Egyptian Goose, also flapping its wings - don't think they could have made much more noise if they had been honking though a megaphone .. went on for a good twenty minutes ..

Thursday - I saw the "Cybercat" ... One of my neighbours had put an old sofa out for collection, a big fabric cream number. There was a very handsome ginger cat sitting on it looking very much at home, suppose it saved it getting its ginger bum frozen sitting under a bush on the ground - I took one pic with my phone but it was way to dark to see, so tried using the flash - the cat suddenly had developed these two huuuge glowing green eyes! (Pic posted elsewhere on Chill)

This morning I woke early am (got back to sleep), but I heard what I first thought was a dog barking in the garages outside (my bedroom backs onto a garage area - I am in a first floor flat) -funny sounding dog I thought .. then I realised it was a fox -it carried on barking for a bit, or whatever you call that foxese do, then wandered off still "barking" ...

We have had a couple of foxes hanging around and they really do make a lot of noise.

We should all take more time to look and listen to see and hear the beauty around us that we take for granted.

Oh crikey, yes I have, a few years back when I was still in my old home we once had three hedghogs chasing each other round and round the garden, huffing and puffing like little prickly steam trains, it was funny to watch them ...

There was one year you could more or less guarentee seeing them every other night - I used to leave digestive bikkies out for them so I didn't have to sit up looking out of the lounge window - I could hear their little teeth crunching, even through the double glazing

I have never heard a hedgehog make a noise. They are so lovely.

I had a lovely walk by the canal today. seeing the swans and moorhens is lovely. It was a crisp day too so even more beautiful.

Robins are gorgeous Rosalind. My mum had one in teh garden for years that used to feed off her hand.
