Hi There,
Apologies that I have not been on for quiet a time but I have got caught up in things which have meant that I have not been online a lot.
I am enjoying my life down in Devon and I have managed to meet a wonderful person who I am now sharing my life with. We have been living together as a couple now for a couple of months and we are both happy.
We are both the same age and she has helped me a lot over the last few months which has meant that I have not been on here because of this.
My partner is disabled and I am caring for her. We have just managed to get her on the higher rate for DLA and I have just put in a claim for Carer's Allowance because of this.
I am not sure but it has surprised me but because my partner is on ESA and is claiming for me she called them today and because I am putting in a claim for Carer's Allowance they indicated to us that we will lose the portion of ESA that she was claiming for me because I am claiming Carer's Allowance.
I have looked on the Entitled To website and entered the information and it indicates there that we should still get the ESA as standard as well as the Carer's Allowance. If anybody can pass me any information on this it would be much appreciated.
I have looked on the website and if your partner is getting a severe disability premium you will lose this but unable to find any information about ESA on this.
Many thanks for reading.
Hal
