Annie Stroud, thought to be the North-east’s oldest person, is celebrating her 109th birthday today with her family and friends!
Annie worked right up until she was 98 at a local beauty clinic and said that hard work was the secret to her long life. Even after she stopped working at the beauty clinic she kept herself busy by helping older people in her community, regularly cleaning and shopping for them.
Her husband, Jack, passed away in 1976 but she is visited every day by her two children and the whole family gets together for her birthdays. This year the whole family, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, dropped by to wish her well. In all about 80 people, including other residents, joined her for her big day!
Annie was treated to a dance show performed by the students at the dance school run by her grandaughter before a buffet and drinks were served to the guests!
Happy birthday Annie!
