People caring for someone with mental health issues are invited to a Carers’ Forum in King’s Lynn this Friday, 16 May.

Organised by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, the forum covers various topics affecting those with mental illness and those who care for them. It also acts as a platform for people to share their own personal experiences of mental health with service users and carers.

This free-to-attend forum will be held from 10am to 5pm at West Norfolk Professional Development Centre, King's Lynn, PE302HU.

Attendees will hear talks given by guest speakers from the Trust and other relevant organisations on subjects including dementia, personality disorders, the psychological aspects of caring, Implementing Recovery through Organisational Change (ImROC) and living with bipolar.

Complementing the talks will be a number of stalls manned by various Trust departments, voluntary groups and charities including Norfolk Recovery Partnership, and MIND, who will be able to explain the services they provide and how to access them.

In addition, the event will be offering free taster sessions in holistic therapies, as well as the the opportunity to speak to a pharmacist and ask questions about psychiatric medication.

Carers’ forums are open to service users and any members of the public who are interested in mental health issues, as well as professionals who wish to network with others in their field.

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust organises regular carers’ forums throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.

For further information about the forum or to view the agenda please contact Howard Tidman on 07899 846981.
