Thank you Maureen, I will let you know how it goes. I have made an appointment with my MP to see if he has any advice he can offer. I strongly feel that my son's choice to stay where he is should override any policy, which changes with the wind anyway. He is a human beng, not a sheep and I will not have him pushed where he doesn't want to go just because some anonymous people in anonymous offices flatter themselves that they know what is best for him.

Hi Everyone,
Just an update on the situation regarding my son's day centre placement. Having spoken to our MP he wrote to Social Services and at my instigation requested an urgent assessment for my son for a personal budget. They promised that it would be done in early 2012. Although not in favour of personal budgets, it was the only way I could see of hopefully giving my son some control over his life instead of it being controlled by other people.
Surprise surprise, despite their promise, Social Services aren't able to do the assessment until possibly as late as Autumn. I have made it very clear that they are not to suspend his placement at day centre until his assessment is done, which they have confirmed they won't. Still nothing permanently sorted but at least it gives me some breathing space to gather energy ready for the next fight!!!
