Grommits daughter phoned me today to say that Derek passed away last week.
The cancer had progressed rapidly across his body.
I asked how Jean was doing and she explained that she is doing very nicely in a new care home.
Jean has settled in well and takes every day as it comes.
Please think of the family at this sad time.

I did not explain that because Jean is so ill with dementia she will not understand what has happened.

I feel so sad . He used to make us laugh in the chat room , and i looked forward to his letters

Because many of us had met Derek and Jean I think this shocking news has hit us so much,

So sorry to hear about Derek, we had lots of lovely chats in the
chatroom. he wrote some wonderful letters on the forum.
