I was shocked to see the birds are left on their own over night.
I looked in before I went to bed, and they were all asleep but with no parent.

Is anyone else thinking that the mother may have been killed?
What a great job the father is doing on his own.

The birds are doing so well. They have black feathers now and all four are thriving.
Just took a look.

This afternoon, I sat and watched the bird flying ever so high in the sky. It must be our bird because it was on its own, and they usually fly in pairs.
We are only 2 miles from the Cathedral.

I did this with the snipping tool, much easier than putting into paste.
Maybe you do it already, but this is the first time I have used the snipping tool.
It was very easy.

The two birds looked like they were kissing for ages.

I have been putting off posting this, but it explains why the webcam was offline for a long while.

Very sad to say that the new female peregrine that chased off the one that laid the eggs attacked and killed two of the fledgelings, and attacked a third. The third was rescued and is being looked by an avian vet, the other is also okay and is being looked after.

Apparently it is unheard of for any adult peregrine to attack a youngster, even one that is not its own. So the Hawk and Owl trust stepped in to save the other two.

So very sad ....

Update via the Hawk and Owl website ..

The two surviving youngsters are being looked after here at the International Centre of Birds of Prey located in Gloucestershire.

Another update via the Hawk and Owl Facebook page .. today

The two youngsters were underweight and ate "ravenously" for the first few days, and were found to be slightly aenemic. One had a wound to its wing and was treated with antibiotics. Funds are being raised for a temporary aivary where they will be placed, this will be in Norfolk and "away from Norwich". The door will later be left open so they do waht is called a soft release - this means they will still have food left at the aivary for a month or so until they can hunt for themselves.
